About Me

We are three friends looking for the perfect well being. We are all married with children and work full time but have many different things going on in our lives and different paths on our health journeys.

Ordinary Cartwheels

Oh, to be a kid again.

I was reading someone else's blog and she mentioned she can't do a cartwheel. This got me to thinking about things we did as kids and what we can't do as adults.

Here's my list of things I can't do, now that I'm a grown up:
  • Blow all of my paycheck ($200) on that rockin hot top and kickin' boots!
  • Spend every day, all summer long at the pool (or the sprinkler)
  • Freeze the bra of the first person that falls asleep at a slumber party!
  • Toilet paper the Coach's house!
  • Put love notes in a locker
  • Go to school dances and Friday night Football!
  • Play leapfrog, hide and seek, or Red Rover
  • A cartwheel

But, then I think of all the things I can do now:

  • Blow all of my paycheck on the mortgage and on that K-Dev hoodie and Converse high tops for my daughter.
  • Pay for an annual membership for my daughter to spend all summer at the pool.
  • Freeze my daughter's bra when she falls asleep? (insert Jerry Springer moment here)
  • Remove the toilet paper from my house
  • Put love notes in my husband's lunch
  • Chaperone school dances and Sunday afternoon NASCAR!
  • Play Rock Band - I play awesome microphone
  • Cartwheels - Honestly? I couldn't do one as a kid and I sure can't do one now.
  • Drink margaritas!

But, that last one, makes me think I can do cartwheels.

Extraordinary First Timers

Well, we did it! C, L, completed our first 5K together. C has done several of them plus marathons, triathalons and I don't know what else. But, she had a baby and took some time off from running. But, this was L's and my first time ever and we finished!

This is the very confident runners, before the race.

Me, swooshing by other competitors! This is at almost 2 miles.

C and L turning at almost a mile.
C and L crossing the finish line!
Me crossing the finish line! I think I won!

Actually, no, I didn't win but I did finish and I finished 6th in my age group. There weren't many of us but I did better than several others anyway. Felt really good to finish this! And, I've already started looking for another one to do in January!

Ordinary High School Halloween

A couple of pictures from Halloween 2008! J is 16 here. She went ToT with her friend I whom I don't have any pictures of.

Homecoming Ordinaries

Homecoming was October 18th this year.

I'm glad that J once again, wanted to go. She went in a group with Brit, her boyfriend, Casey, her boyfriend, and TJ.

And, she wanted a new dress so yea! But, she didn't want me to with her to get one. I did get her to try on a couple the weekend before but she didn't find anything she loved.

She ended up shopping with Brit on the Sunday before and found a beautiful halter style dress that's eggplant and blue and very shimmery. Here's a picture of the number she found.

I was very glad she found one rather quickly.

Here are a few pictures we took:

I'm hoping to get a few more pictures of her and her friends at the dinner and dance soon!

Ordinary Flu?

Well, it got us again this year. But, we don't know where it came from.

My honey started feeling poorly last week and was out of work as of last Thursday. We thought it was a cold but he started running a fever that afternoon. He tried going to work on Friday but left around 10:00.

I started stiffling on Friday and by Saturday, here came the congestion. Sunday afternoon had me down for the count with a fever. It broke that evening but was back on Monday. I attempted work but was home by 9:00. I slept most of the day.

Today's better but still with lots of congestion. I'm working hard at preventing my daughter from getting it now. Lots of vitamin c for her! She has homecoming this weekend and has a beautiful blue/purple dress! I'll take pictures of it soon!

So, to all of my buddies! Take care and stay healthy!

Ordinary Numbers

Well, I've done it now.

I know, I know. I knew it would happen. Well, I had hoped it would happen but I've tried previously and it never has before. But, this past week, it did.

This week, there an ordinary number that is actually something great!

10% was my first weight loss goal. I wanted to lose 10% of my body weight. I met and exceeded this goal on Monday, September 30. So, in exactly 3 months, I was able to meet and exceed my first goal. I exceeded this goal by 1.2 percent. That's a great number too!

So, you're hearing it here first! Here's the next goal number!
I want to be down 30 pounds by the 5K on November 1. I am currently, only 3.6 pounds away from that!
Color me pink! I'm tickled! I need to go shopping!

Ordinary Presentation

Hurricane Ike caused lots of problems for everyone. Since businesses and schools were closed for almost 2 weeks there are tremendous delays and communication issues galore.

My school was closed for 2 sessions as well and this caused communication issues from counselors. The voice messaging system through the school and counselors said classes would be extended for 2 weeks so my team didn't worry about week 5 assignments. We skipped week 3 and 4. Our team had completed week 3 assignments prior to the hurricane so we started working on week 4 though we did discuss our 30 minute presentation due for week 5.

So, Monday the 22nd, the professor posts that all assignments are due Thursday and there were not going to be make up days. So, for team assignments we had: 2 rough drafts, a final draft, 1 outline and a 20-30 minute presentation. Individual assignments were 1 3-4 page paper and 1 7-8 page paper due. All in 4 days! My team added an extra meeting on Wednesday night for finishing touches and knew we'd do well on everything.

Here's the picture from Organizational Psychology after our Presentation on Disney/Pixar. r-l: Doug, Tonie, Todd, me, Dave and the front is Mike. We did well - knew we would. Everyone enjoyed the program. We're getting to change classes to stay with Tonie and we know we'll continue to have fun!
